Working for GoPro is like college all over again trying to cram for finals. There’s bros a-plenty and tons of coffee with even more goals and deadlines. That being said, this kind of work style is where I thrive. The company maintains a fast-paced environment with a modern workplace and team. Their products are awesome to work with and offer great experiences as well as opportunities to learn and grow. Here’s some things I was able to accomplish during my role at GoPro:

 

LEAD SUPPORT REPRESENTATIVE – DRONE

  • Assist fellow representatives with drone-specific customer cases
  • Develop solutions for third-party FPV compatibility issues

DRONE SPECIALIST RECRUITING ASSISTANT

TEST FLIER AND ANALYZER

  • Fly Karma quadcopter while testing performance and handling

KARMA TRAINING DESIGNER

  • Adapt drone knowledge into modular compartments

  • Summarize released information to Senior Product Managers

  • Provide a linear template for a customer to understand the Karma ecosystem
  • Categorize information for comprehension from a customer’s perspective

OTA TESTING

  • Flash Karma Controller units using Ubunto commands
  • Initiate updating sequence and test variable issues

  • Attend weekly in-depth meetings concerning FLAT and KIBANA

  • Acquire knowledge and understanding of Kibana and GoPro’s Flight Log Analysis Tool

  • Develop one-pagers to help qualified representatives utilize tools

FLIGHT VALIDATION 

  • Fly five drones at once to test for power off scenarios
  • Document flight numbers and contribute stats to management
  • Setup and tear down products for shipment purposes

  • Define Customer Support criteria and information required for recall
  • Setup online document for collaborative editing
  • Maintain contact with customers to ensure they receive a courtesy camera

BoardUp – Online Marketing Director

In 2016 I responded to a Craigslist posting for a videographer position to shoot video for a “foldable longboard.” After my interview over some Starbucks coffee, I realized I didn’t get the job. Instead, BoardUp’s CEO, Bin Lu, hired me as an Online Marketing Director contractor. BoardUp’s workplace motto could be summed up with “aim high and hit higher.” The company did the impossible in creating a sturdy foldable longboard and is continuing to develop new products.

 

ONLINE MARKETING DIRECTOR 

  • Funnel product information and imagery into a successful layout
  • Manage company social media platforms public feed
  • Host and execute product give-aways for exposure
  • Interact with followers to promote brand image

PRODUCT QUALITY ASSURANCE/TESTING

  • Learn down hill longboarding to test the product beyond specifications
  • Ride beta products to push durability and functionality
  • Provide feedback via videos, imagery, and copy-based outlines

MEDIA CURRATOR

  • Capture video and photo as rider as well as follow camera
  • Log and organize product shoots into libraries for easy access
  • Gather customer content via social media platforms
  • Post on behalf of company to multiple social media platforms
  • Export files to manageable sizes for website use

AMBASSADOR MANAGEMENT

  • Innovate the BoardUp Ambassador program from the ground up
  • Develop web-based application portal for interested applicants
  • Maintain relations with athletes and support product at a higher level
  • Ensure ambassadors have proper resources to effectively represent the brand

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

  • Analyze traffic and various trends to maximize conversion rate
  • Utilize BoardUp content to present the unique aspects of product
  • A/B test website information and layout and cater best on performance results

Biola University – Media Specialist

The MARCOM department of Biola University was my promise land. It truly was a land of opportunity and all things nice including the people and resources. The university provides multiple facets throughout the media capturing process both in stills and video. Biola’s quality of production maintains a high level of criteria in publication and remains uniform throughout it’s platforms.

 

LEAD VIDEOGRAPHER

  • Setup and record events shooting on various camera rigs with exposure to different audio rigs
  • Develop light design to properly illuminate subjects in studio setting
  • Edit media into final movies using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Lightroom
  • Back Up final exported media to campus server for all department access

CAMPAIGN PHOTOGRAPHER

  • Lead university campaign using photography to capture over 200+ students’ portraits and story
  • Specify resources needed for onsite shoots with portable solutions enabling travel
  • Archive files and manage content into an Adobe Lightroom library
  • Photo retouch images to a clean aesthetic with a uniform color grade and appearance

EVENT CAMERA OP

  • Correspond with event lead on camera angles covered and narrow in on desired shots
  • Roam event to cover action with live feed to switcher for a more full audience experience
  • Communicate via walkie with director to execute desired and specific shots
  • Serve as grip for setup/strike lighting, trusses, cranes, and other gear

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

  • Create poster ads for events, mission trips, and fundraisers
  • Retain and expand knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
  • Refine current workflow to a faster turnaround time for clientele

Their training, team building, and exposure to experience definitely can definitely be labeled as a strong suite.
